To Our Valued Patients,
We hope this finds you and your family well in such an unprecedented and challenging time.
While this is a trying time for everyone, all of us at New York Sports Medicine Institute (NYSMI) wanted to reassure you that we are devoted to your health and safety and, accordingly, wanted to update you on some of the accommodations we have initiated.
Currently, based on Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.6, we are able to continue to care for our patients, as we qualify as Essential Health Care Operations. We are still able to see patients in our offices as well as perform surgery on select patients that qualify based on the nature and severity of the medical issue.
In addition, we are happy to now offer telemedicine office visits by live two-way video conferencing with our healthcare providers. I will be available for this, as well as Kelli, our physician assistant for any orthopedic issues. In addition, our physical therapists and concussion team will be available. This will allow us to evaluate, diagnose and offer treatment plans for those unable to come to the office for an in-person evaluation. During your telemedicine visit, we can order appropriate diagnostic studies, if needed. We can also offer a consultation with our physical therapy team to devise a home program for you.
In order to schedule your telemedicine visit, please call our office staff at:
Please note you will need a device that is internet and video capable. Currently, FaceTime is permissible and we have been using this platform with great success. Please make sure your device is ready prior to your appointment.
For those of you with upcoming appointments, we will be contacting you to see if you would prefer to utilize our telemedicine service in lieu of an office-based visit. Please rest-assured, each office is thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis with proper screening of patients prior to your visit. In addition, we have implemented appropriate social distancing in our waiting rooms and exam rooms. When possible, we will call patients waiting in their vehicles to go straight into the exam room. Clearly, if you are exhibiting any symptoms, you should stay safely at home and opt for a telemedicine appointment.
While these are trying times, it is essential for your physical and mental health to remain active in some capacity that is safe for you. Go for a walk outside. Go for a run. In addition, we can assist in custom home programs with our fitness partners from Total Form Fitness by visiting www.TotalFormFitnessWhitePlains.com).
Please know we are here if you need us, and are committed to helping our patients and their families get through this difficult time. Feel free to contact me if you need anything or have questions.
All the best,
Neil Roth, MD
